A second-generation Australian home, made for yours.

Bandhini Design House began over thirty years ago, founded by Tai on the Gold Coast — a quiet partnership between Australia and India and a slow, considered way of making textiles for the home. Every cushion cover, throw, and bed cover is hand-loomed, embroidered, or block-printed by artisans we've worked with for decades.

Until recently, getting our pieces to homes in the United States meant going through stockists. Now, thanks to streamlined shipping and a clever cover-and-insert process, you can order directly from our studio — and have it on your sofa in under two weeks.

At checkout, choose to add inserts (we'll source them for you locally in California), or order covers only and pair them with inserts you already have. Either route, the maths is simple.

Arrives in 10–14 Days

Covers ship via Australia Post tracked international. Inserts, when added, are dispatched from our California partner. Both arrive within two weeks of dispatch.

What you might be wondering.

Why do you ship covers without inserts?

Inserts are bulky, heavy, and expensive to ship internationally — but they're not what makes a BHD cushion special. The cover is the craft: hand-loomed cottons, traditional block prints, hand-embroidered detail. Shipping covers alone keeps the international parcel small, fast, and affordable, often saving you 60–70% versus shipping a fully-filled cushion.

If you'd like inserts, we'll arrange them from our California supplier so they arrive at the same time as your covers.

How long does shipping to the US take?

Covers ship via Australia Post International Tracked and typically arrive in 10–14 business days from dispatch. If you've added inserts at checkout, they'll be dispatched from our California partner within the same timeframe.

Are there customs duties or import taxes?

None for you to worry about. We cover all applicable duties on orders to the United States, so there's nothing extra to settle on delivery and no customs paperwork to handle on your end.

Shipping is paid by you at checkout through Australia Post at very competitive international rates — you pay only what it actually costs to deliver, nothing marked up.

What if my insert sizes are different to standard?

Our covers come in the most common sizes (16", 18", 20", 22", 24", Euro 26", and Lumbar). If you have an unusual insert size, our custom bespoke cushion service can match it — just send us your dimensions and we'll handle the rest.

Can I return covers I don't love?

Yes. We offer a 30-day return window on all standard items.

Custom and bespoke pieces are made-to-order with a typical lead time of 2–4 weeks, and are not returnable. We work closely with you on sampling and approval before production begins to make sure you're confident in the final piece.

Do you offer trade pricing for US designers?
